About Us

Government of Nepal and Government of Finland started the development co-operation project "Strengthening of Environmental Administration and Management at the Local Level in Nepal" (SEAM-N) in autumn 2001.

Second phase of SEAM-N Project

The overall objective of the Project is to improve the state of the environment and to enhance environmentally sustainable rural, urban and industrial development and utilization of natural resources in the project area by:

• Establishing and strengthening environmental administration, planning and management capacity of the DDCs, Municipalities and VDCs of the project area
• Improving environmental services and environmental awareness in the project area
• Issuing and monitoring of PCCs in the Eastern Development Region (EDR)
• Strengthening and improving CP, OHS, SMS, EMS practices and implementation in the EDR
• Developing the regional environmental monitoring system
• Strengthening the environmental monitoring capacity of regional and local authorities
• Integrating gender, social inclusion and poverty issues into overall project planning and management.
